2016 Design Trends - Healthcare Architecture
Check out this report on healthcare architectural design trends. The author, Grace Lennon, AIA, determines that healthcare facilites are focusing on healing the mind and soul as well as the body. They are doing this by bluring the line between sculpture and architecture as well as emphasizing materiality and porosity over color. Another excellent example of this trend is the Credit Valley Hospital in Ontario, Canada. This example was designed before computers were ubiquitously used to simplify complex drafting tasks and construction documents.
